Tyson Fury beat Dillian Whyte at Wembley with a sixth-round knockout on Saturday night to stay unbeaten and retain his world championship belts. After the fight, he appeared to confirm his retirement, meaning fans may never see the 33-year-old extend his record past Saturday night.
Fury turned pro in 2008 and is 32-1-0, his only draw against Wilder in the first leg of their epic trilogy. He had a busy career, becoming world heavyweight champion in 2015 before a well-documented battle with mental health sidelined him from the sport until his return in 2018 and then regaining his heavyweight crown. .
Fury appeared to play down any prospect of a fight against heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk after his win over Whyte – sticking to his retirement position – but his wife Paris kept the door open for a unification bout when she spoke to BT Sport after the contest: “I know in my heart that the only reason Tyson would come back is for a unification fight,” Paris told BT Sport. “That would be the only reason because there is nothing left for him.”.
